beans: Might I suggest - you will get much more response if you start a new thread with a better title. "good route" could be asking about any place in Europe. There are several folks who post here w/ info about Croatia and the region, but they need to see your question.

Something like "Route for a week between Dubrovnik/islands/Split?" would tell them what you are asking about.

Ooohh...you're going to love Croatia. I spent a week in Dubrovnik, and wish I could have seen more. Dubrovnik really is a special place. we did a day trip to Lokrum (spelling?) and it was nice. I dont know if Id do it again, for once, yeah, go.
I have a friend who started in Split and ended up sailing for a week all along the coast. He loved it. That can be an option too, although I wouldn't know how to go about finding a company to go with. That was particularly good for the independent traveller or couples.
cheers

You could easily spend the entire week in and around Dubrovnik. It is a wonderful town to wander around in and there are plenty of day trip options including Montenegro, Boasnia/Hercegovina, Lokrum and several other islands nearby. The ferry down to Dubrovnik from split will be an all day event. The bus trip takes about 4 1/2 hours and the bus is very comfortable and it stops several times for about 10 minutes.

When in Dubrovnik be sure to visit the War Photos Museum, walk along the wall, eat at Cafe Komenica, have a refreshment at the hole in the wall bar called "Buza" (pronounced Bucha) and also go to a wonderful beach bar just outside the Ploce gate about 100 yards called East/West Beach bar.

We just returned from 2 weeks in Croatia and we are definitely going to return within the next 3 years and do a boat trip along the islands.

Croatia is a fantastic country!
