Michelin has great maps of Germany. One tip though: Try to get the one that covers the area you will be in.
That will have much better detail than the large one that covers all of Germany.
I have one for Bavaria and one for the Baden Wurtenburg area that has very good detail.
Go to a book store, look for the orange maps and look for one that really gets into the area. Germany is split into different areas or you can get one for the entire country.
You may have to go to a map store to get the exact map as some book stores do not carry all the maps.

The German motoring club, ADAC, produce many good maps and atlases. I particularly recommend their 1:200,000 Reise Atlas Deutschland, roughly 3 miles to an inch and only costs 7.90 euro. Also Shell series is good, if a bit more cluttered. They are widely available in Germany, from kiosks, bookshops (including airport branches), service stations and tourist offices.
