Dear Bob,

Many of the suggestions were excellent, but I saw none for apartments. I am returning to Paris this spring and renting an apartment. It is much cheaper than a hotel room, comes equipped with everything you could possibly need, and you can cook the lovely french foods you see in the open markets. You are goi8ng to be there for so long, that this may be a good approach. Then you can live like a Parisian, in one of the cool apartments you see when you walk around town. I will post more when I return from Paris this spring. A simple search on the net under paris apartments gives you lots of resources.
Also, a St. Chapelle concert is a must, especially near dusk, as the sun is setting through the incredible windows.
And wine bars, Jaques Melac is a bit of a search, but a true Parisian bar, unlike the trendy, snooty Willi's Wine Bar we couldn't stomach! Too many young Aspen debutante's for my tastes.

Connie
Just wanted to add my suggestion for a favorite little activity in Paris: L'Orangerie Musee (downstairs) has two gigantic oval rooms which house Monet's enourmous Waterlily paintings. Even if you aren't into museums, you might consider this as an R&R stop, almost a meditation, when you need a break from dashing about. I've been there several times and have been blessed with no crowds and a lovely, quiet energy. I hope you will be as fortunate.

Spent two weeks in London and Paris at Xmas. Did all trip research on net. Fodors, Frommers, Rick Steves, country tourist bureau. You will find photos of various sights as well. We do recommend the museum pass. We walked almost everywhere we went. Stayed in Latin Quarter. We asked hotel clerk, taxi driver for dinner suggestions and for the most part food was good. I will tell you that all time schedules were shot as we spent more time than planned just about every place we went.

Thanks to all of you who have responded to my request for help on visiting Paris. Thanks to the advice about the fashion show, I booked a hotel in the 6th Ar already, and am glad I did.
There is a wealth of information out there on this forum. I also lucked into having a French student in class who was born, raised and educated in Paris. He found out I was going and has added his most valuable insights. So, again, thanks to all of you for generously sharing.

I am of the conclusion now that this will have to be our first trip to Paris because we are not going to do more than make a dent in a very long list of sights to see. (We also decided that we want to spend part of the time in Switzerland.)
