Go-Today to London, No Seat Assignment??

We also can not get a seat assignment on a United flight to London in March. United did assign seats from our departure point to Dulles but not from Dulles to London. We were told we could not get a seat assignment because United only has so many seats they can assign in advance. If you have a customer with a paid e-ticket why can you not get an assigned seat? Are they overbooking these flights? Can we expect to travel in the cargo hold or the lavatory? It doesn't make any sense. No wonder United is on the edge of bankruptcy.

Hi,
A friend and I booked w/Go-Today for our New Year's London trip and will be flying US Air. We have seat assignments for all legs--ATL to CLT, CLT-LHR and the returns. All it took was a phone call. I wonder if it's a United airline thing to withhold seat assignments??

Debbie

PS Has anyone flown USAir for an international flight??? How are they?

It is a United thing not to give seat assignments until they feel like it. I'm a corporate travel agent who frequently books $1000 refundable domestic fares for business travelers and they don't get seat assignments unless they're 100,000,000 mile flyers. As for Usairways, I've never flown them internationally but have heard no real complaints and I just received a memo advising that they may introduce nonstop Philadelphia to Dublin and/or Shannon flights in May 2003.
