Global Holidays tour group

I am traveling with Global Holidays on Omni Air on 9/23/01. Due to the tragic events, I don't want to go. The tour group basically says, too bad, we're going and you lose all your $. Any thoughts on how to get me out of this? I have travel insurance, but it does not cover acts of war or terrorism.

Jackie, I'm sorry to have to tell you this, but you probably have no recourse, at least at this time. The company has every right, within its contractual obligations, to refuse to return your money. I know of no way to force them to return your money, as long as they are within the "rules" laid down in their contract with you. I'm afraid you will either have to go or let them have your money. The fact that you "don't want to go" is neither here nor there. I know, it's not what you wanted to hear. And I also know that Global Holidays is showing little compassion to you. But you did sign a contract with them when you purchased the trip and are bound to live up to your promise.

We are supposed to leave on 9/28 to go, of all places, to Turkey on a Globus Tour. Spent some time this morning trying to get out of it, but no luck. We will be penalized 30% and we had another Globus Tour booked following that, starting in Athens.

When we booked, there was no war/terrorist activities; it wasn't the same conditions. We strongly believe that we shouldn't be blackmailed into going to such a hotbed. We are continuing to protest to the Company.

I think if everyone should keep being the "squeaky wheel." Maybe Globus would have to do something.

Hi again - this is a P.S. to my message a few minutes ago. - The Globus Customer Service number is 800 221-0090 and our travel agent suggested to ask for a Supervisor. I'm going to keep "going up the ladder" and see what happens.

Sylvia,

I just returned home from Globus Paris and Provence tour. When we were on the trip our tour director told us that Globus was cancelling their tours.

All I can say is that Globus was great in helping us return home. They also negotiated hotel rates in case we were stranded.

I'm sorry that you have had a bad experience with Globus, but I will be using them in the future.

Best of luck

Anita, I believe Globus and Blobal Holidays are 2 different tour companies.

Oops, that's Global Holidays, not Blobal. (Though that typo does spell out a really funny-sounding word.)
