Glasgow tips sought
My husband and I are going to Scotland for 10 days in March for a family get-together, but we're escaping for the weekend of March 10-12 to Glasgow to visit the art galleries, museums and theatre. Any suggestions for a good hotel (moderate to luxurious, perhaps a little romantic?) We'll have a car. Also, suggestions for the art galleries, museums or theatre?
Thanks!
Mary

Mary,
I love Glasgow! A weekend isn't quite
long enough but here are some ideas:
- Take a few hours to walk around
the heart of the city to look (up)
at the beautiful array of architecture.
- As to museums, Burrell/Pollok House
and/or Museum of Modern Art would be
my choice for a short visit.
- Go to the Scotia Bar at night to
meet some nice locals and hear great
live folk music.
You will find plenty to do -- the
Glaswegians are the best part of
Glasgow. Sorry, can't help with
hotels as I haven't stayed in any there.
Try the Malmaison hotel. Expect to pay from £75-100 for a double. This chain offers 'boutique' standards at reasonable prices and have now started to spring up in other U K cities. www.malmaison.co.uk should be their website.

Absolutely no choice- 1 Devonshire Gardens. That's what it's called as well as its address.. Still the poshest night I've had anywhere. Phone 0141 339 2001. Excellent cuisine too.

The Lighthouse is the exhibition of choice at the moment- based on last yer's City of Architecture status.

Enjoy. Ask again for any more info.
