Glacier Express
Hello,
I will arrive at Zurich in July and plan to take the Glacier Express to Zermatt. If I start the express at Chur, will I miss any nice scenery between St. Mortiz and Chur? Or, starting at St. Mortiz is recommended.
Thanks.

I took it about 2 summers ago from Zermatt to St. Moritz and the scenery was fairly dull. Hardly any snow, at least nothing to compare to Zermatt area. Main thing was the 2nd class seating was very cramped and we had to negotiate shuffling the seating to accomodate larger folks not squashing others so bad. Oh, there is a scenic portion near St. Moritz with high arched bridges, but not worth extra travel pain. Zermatt was much, much more interesting than the journey at least at that point in time.

Let Viking's experience be a lesson to you: don't go in Second Class but rather pay the money to travel in one of the First Class panorama coaches.
The main attraction you will mis between Chur and St. Moritz is the Lanwasser viaduct (that's the "high arched bridge" Viking spoke of).
There is plenty of memorable scenery between Chur and Zermatt IMO and you'll actually see more of it if there isn't any snow.
Have a great trip.
