Giverney overnight? then to CDG?

We are spending a week in an apartment in Paris in June. In order to save quite a bit on airfare we scheduled an extra day in Paris beyond our week. The apartment is booked up so we cannot stay the extra night. I was wondering if it would be doable to go to Giverney for the final day and overnight and then go to CDG from there. Does anyone know if this would work and if we could get from Vernon to the airport in the morning for a 10:30 AM flight? Are there trains? Thanks!

I'm not sure that it would work. I think you'd have take the train back to Paris and then get to the airport from Gare St. Lazare. I did a quick check on the rail site and it looks like the earliest train from Vernon to Paris is at 6:11 am. and would take about an hour. You might want to just go out to Giverny (which I would highly recommend!) and then come back to Paris and stay near the airport the last night.

If you had a car, it might work though.

Here's the France rail site.

Nope, not realistic without a car, and even then I wouldn't do it.

For the record, the first train from Vernon to Paris on WEEKDAYS departs at 05:29 and arrives at Gare Saint-Lazare at 06:28. Any of three ways will get you to CDG by 07:30, three hours before your flight's scheduled departure:

Take the Roissybus from Opera to CDG. The fare is €9.10.

Take the RER E from Haussmann--Saint-Lazare to Magenta, walk through the tunnels to Gare du Nord, and take the RER B to CDG. Be aware that the RER B line divides northeast of Paris so be sure to get on a train that is going there. The fare is €8.50.

Take a taxi to CDG. Unless you get hung up in traffic, the fare will be around €50.

However, the real question is SHOULD you do this? If your train from Vernon to Paris is late for some reason, you'll be in trouble.

The more I think about this the more I think maybe we should just go stay at an airport hotel for the last night. So sad to spend your last night (a Saturday) in Paris in some crummy airport hotel, but it would be convenient....sniff.

You could always priceline a 4 or 5 star hotel in Paris and have a wonderful last night and leave for the airport in the morning. You have to get a hotel anyway.
