Gites in Brittany?

Just started planning for June 2002 in probably Brittany, Has anyone any travel co recommendation. Looking at brochures from Brittany Ferries, Cresta, Country cottages in France and French Life?
It would be for 7 days in June. What about the weather and any recommended regions to stay in Brittany area. Thanks....

We went with Brimar and Country Cottages in France last year and are going with Brittany Holidays and a private one this year. All have web sites.

I have the brochures to hand if you want me to take a quick squint for you.

All sorts of bits of Brittany are different from each other. What do you want to do. The weather should be good.

We rented a gite in Brittany from the Chez Nous brochure last year and were very pleased with it. It is the third time we have rented from Chez Nous and have had no complaints with any of the accomodations.Chez Nous will also do you a good deal on ferry crossings, they have a web site you can check out.

France has a program called Gites Ruraux en France that lists rental properties in all the departements in France. We rented a lovely one in Provence; this is a very inexpensive way to stay in one spot and explore the area. Some can be primitive, so I'd stick to only those with 3 or 4 "stars" (actually ears of corn!) One can rent directly from the owners,or this can be done thru the assoc.; the latter is easier for those not speaking French. Ours had 3 bedrooms, bath and 1/2, liv.room, din. room, laundry with washer, and a fully equipped kitchen, complete with dishwasher and Cuisinart! (Many more sophisticated kitchen tools than any place we've ever rented at NJ beaches, Hilton Head, etc.) It was a mile away from Gordes and set in an olive grove, overlooking fields of poppies. Fresh herbs were growing near the house, and we could enjoy the scent as we ate breakfast on the stone patio. This was a 3 star and much more than "adequate"-a truly idyllic spot!
Check out website www.gites-de-france.fr

Thanks Sheila, Jan and Sue. Very helpful. I am checking out those web sites now. Sue- you just brought back memories there about Hilton Head. What a wonderful island, we had a great time there in 2000. Best Wishes and thanks again to you all.
