Gift horses and the Limousin

I have won a free 4 day trip to the Limousin area, and I can stay in either the north (Gueret) or the South (near Brive) or in Limoges for 4 nights. Where would you go with 2 teenagers (14 and 16) or would you not bother (we have to pay an extra £300 for the trip as we are taking them with, and the prize was for 2)

Klar, you know, it is a bit early for most of the Fodorites. We, Europeans already had our lunch but in the US they only starting their breakfast...
Be patient!

You are right, of course - I should have posted later, but was hoping for help from European contingent....I guess most members forum members are from the US - Is that the case? Are we Europeans just a tiny minority? Should I have posted in French?

Brive is close enough to the main Dordogne area that you are practially there. That makes it easy.

Limoges has a couple of interesting museums, but more for adults. It is a short drive from the northern Dordogne area (Brantôme, Bourdeilles, Périgueux).

So I would choose either one of them, with maybe a nod for Brive.

<Are we Europeans just a tiny minority>
Yes!
<Should I have posted in French?> No, IMO there is only a very small percentage of French.
Maybe you can try a French forum if you can write French like http://voyageforum.com/

But I'm sure you'll get some answers here.
Start reading this old thread while you're waiting, it could help you decide :
http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=34510060

If you put Brive or Limoges in the search function you'll find some others.

Definitely choose Brive, then drive down into the Dordogne.

Limoges - real boring, except for Oradou-sur-Glane, which is just south of it.

And the Limousin in general, while attractive, doesn't hold a candle to the Dordogne.
