getting to Orvieto's train station
Does anyone know if the funicular from Orvieto to the train station would run at 6:00 - 7:00 AM on a Sunday morning?

If the funicular is not running, would buses be running, how about taxis? How long would it take to walk to the train station from the Piazza del Duomo?

Mariarosa, if the funiculare is not running, your best bet would probably be a taxi; it should cost about 10 euros. We were told that there are only three taxis in Orvieto, so you might reserve the night before.

It would take forever to walk to the train station at the bottom of the hill as the road winds around and around. Or, if you're quite athletic and adventurous you could shinny straight down the hill, but I don't think you'd like it!

Buon viaggio

On Sundays, the funicular starts running at 8am, every 15 minutes. Between 6am and 7am there are some buses that run on Sundays:
Line #1 to Piazza Cahen and Piazza XXIX Marzo, at 6:20
Line #2-2/ to Piazza della Reppublica, at 6:20 and 6:50.
Source: http://www.orvietonet.it/trasporti/bus/index.html
