Getting from Paris to Landing beaches
Will be in Paris in a few weeks. We would like to tour the new Juno Centre and the surrounding landing beaches. Are their tours offered in the area? Also any recommondations on where to stay? Should we take the train from Paris to a city (Bayeau?) in the area and then rent a car? or should we rent a car from the airport. Because the Juno Centre is new (just opened today, in fact) there isn't much information on that particular area. Thanks in advance!

You don't say how long you want to spend doing the beaches. We found it very easy to rent a car at CDG and just strike out for Normandy. Get the Michelin map of NOrmandy and the Michelin Green Guide to Normandy. Youwill enjoy it all. Didn't know about the Juno museum.

this is strange--I posted a reply but it didn't "take" I'll try again...
thanks for the info
We plan to spend about 2-3 days in Normandy. The Juno centre only opened today.
So, if we drive from CDG, should we base ourselves in one town for both nights and just do day/side trips? Would Bayeau be the best bet for this? Any recommondations would be appreciated.

I would say to take a train from Paris to Bayeux and then stay at a hotel in town (we stayed at <[email protected]> last summer. Very nice. Near cathedral and the Bayeux Tapestry. We didn't reserve any trip to the beaches and just got a bus tour the afternoon after we arrived. Saw much of what we wanted to- Omaha Beach, Sword Beach, Museum, Pont d'Hoc, etc ....

Okay, this is starting to unfold nicely. Thanks so much everyone for your help! Just another question:If we took the train to Bayeux, is it a good idea to rent a car while there so we can get around? Is there a way to rent a car at the train station in Bayeux? or could we just depend on tours?
