Get to Heathrow from Gatwick

Is this too weird/undoable? I'm flying from San Diego California to Nice France. The least inexpensive option I've found is to fly British Airways into Gatwick (arrive @ 3:35pm) and then catching another British Airways flight to Nice from Heathrow (departs @7:50pm.) That leaves me about 4-hours to get from LGW to LHR. Is this too crazy? Or is this doable?

Ray,

Easily doable with time to spare. There is a regular bus that rides between the two airports at, as I recall, about half-hour intervals. It's a pleasant and comfortable ride through beautiful countryside -- we took it in the opposite direction a few years ago. Your travel agent can get the details for you and make a reservation.

You won't need to make a reservation for the bus. British Airways will give you a voucher when you get there and tell you where to catch it.

Hey, thanks for your help! My mind is at ease now. The reason I was initially worried is because a few years ago I had to land in JFK and connect to a flight at EWR (Newark NJ). THAT was a nerve-wracking experience...our bus was caught in massive traffic jams all the way thru!
Thanks again...and happy travels!

I don't know how far you are with reservations, but have you checked into flying London-Nice with one of these CHEAP airlines (some of them fly from Getwick only) like www.virgin-express.com
or
www.europebyair.com
others are RyanAir and EasyJet, not sure if they have flights to Nice.
You may be surprised to get some real cheap air fare, and (at least in Virgin's case, for sure) not having to hassle between 2 airports!
Amik
