Andrew,

How do we know you are for real? You have to give us some kind of reassurance. Reply to your own message and give us more information. What is your company name? How do you decide who you will pay to write? If it's as good as you initially say it is, then I will definitely give it a try! Thanks.

Jeanie,
At least you got a reply! And where were you going, might I ask? I do not need to know when but, I would like to see if it is the same (itinerary) as mine, so I will know if I even need to bother if they EVER do e-mail me back. You can e-mail me directly, if you like.
Thank you.

I love to travel to experience the culinary delights of a new country as well as photograph to tell a story.
I have a couple of trips through South Africa where I travelled on safari and also visited the townships near Johannesburg and Cape Town. I am working on a portfolio of photographs showing the many faces of South Africa.

My most recent trip was to Portugal (North of Lisbon). I plan to travel there again later this year (October) and to South Africa in December.

I would love to share my experiences with other fellow travelers.

Regards
Yvonne

Dave (and anyone else interested),
My itinerary is as follows, and yes, it is very ambitious:
Flying into Madrid
Sevilla
Algarve
Lisbon and Portugese Riviera
Barcelona
South of France (briefly)
Cinque Terre
Lake District
Hallstatt, Austria
Vienna
Luxembourg/Strasbourg (briefly)
Brussels/Antwerp (to visit family)
Loire Valley,
then we are renting a car and doing a couple week tour of France from Normandy/Brittany and around the cost to Bordeaux
Flying out of Paris

So I thought he might respond. While most places are pretty well touristed, some of the areas in France that we will hit are a little different, since we will have a car. But who knows. I didn't care much about the money, I just want to help other travelers.

Jeanie,
Yes, it sounds like you do NOT need to worry about the money. Quite noble of you to want to help out your fellow travelers. A word to the wise: Be careful to whom and what you tell things. I have witnessed a LOT of 'scams' in my life and known my share of 'crooks'. Unless you have arranged for housesitters (like we have), you could come home to nothingness! (And I still DO NOT give out details of my travel dates, etc., except to 'throw them off the scent' if you know what I mean.) If someone has stolen your Visa Card Number (from your trash say), the best time to 'hit' you would be when they know you are 'far away' for an extended period, no? You may not even know it until you return. Your itinerary is not so different than mine although, you have WAY more time than I, and I've traded Italy for Spain. I feel that I have a pretty good 'nose' for these things (being old...or wise...or both) and I smell something 'fishy' here. Maybe I'm wrong (as I also believe that many people who joined in on the "Stand Up and Be Counted" and/or "Where Are You" type posts (on this forum) will probably be recieving 'tons' of travel type 'junk' mail in the future--or worse. It could be quite innocent and I even added a post to one myself). Good Luck and Happy 'Safe' Travels.

Dave-

I'm glad you said something about giving out travel dates on this forum. I am always amazed and worried about the people who will give dates of their trips. I always refer to it as "my upcoming trip" on this forum, no dates. Especially since some of us would be pretty easy to track down through our e-mail addresses and unusual last names! I hope people heed your advice.

Dave,
I imagined it could be a scam, but yet it never occured to me that giving out my address and dates of travel could be bad. The thought just never crossed my mind. At least if I did give any address it was my parent's address and they're not traveling with me.
Trust me, I do need the money. I am a starving college grad trying to scrap up enough dough to lug a backpack across Europe. But hey, that's what credit cards are for - I will just figure out what to do when i get back!
Thanks for the tips!
Jeanie
