switzerland is really expensive - if coming from Germany or Austria bring with you any necessities or prepare for sticker shock - sundries like shampoo, etc.

Average prices in Switzerland for many things are higher than elsewhere, but the variation in prices is wide, and one can visit Switzerland without spending a fortune. Any good guidebook, and many threads here on Fodor's, address ways to keep costs down.
