Germany - September - October 2002
I've been trying to put together a trip to Germany for 4 weeks, most likely departing Boston the last week of September. Unfortunately, the trip seems a little daunting for me and I may have to take organized overnight tours for some areas. It seems that some places I want to go I won't be able to get to by train, and I don't want to rent a car just for myself.

I was wondering if anyone knows of any well-established German-based tour companies that have good reputations that I can find on the web. I'm still waiting for a package of information from the German Department of Tourism. I am not interested in Trafalgar, Cosmos, etc. I checked out Wallace Arnold out of the UK, however, it only offers a one week tour that would depart and return to the UK.

Hi Leslie

I have found the EurAide site very useful in planning my upcoming trip, although I haven't actually booked anything with them at this point. The address is: www.euraide.de (information is in English).

best regards
Janine

Russ, I thought I made myself clear that I am looking for an organized tour. I can certainly get to the major cities myself, but there are certain unique areas that are not serviced by train.

I've found a few tour companies: DER Travel Service, Moswin Tours and Taber Holidays, which all seem to specialize in tours of Germany. Also, all of these companies have offices in the UK. Does anyone have any opinions about these companies or others?

"Russ, I thought I made myself clear that I am looking for an organized tour."

Actually, you seem to be having
difficulty making yourself clear, Leslie.

"I may have to take organized overnight tours for some areas." Your statement implies you'll be reaching certain destinations on your own by train, then going overnight to other spots. How is anyone to advise you unless you say which areas? I know a tour company for the Mosel River towns that are not served by train, but why would I suggest that if you don't give a hoot about the Mosel?? Maybe you want a tour of the entire country. If so, why say "tours for some areas"?

Whatever it is you want to see, good luck. But if you want help from those qualified to help you, you need to be more specific and more polite.
