General posting question re: some responses

This may be a stupid question, but this is the first forum I've ever read religiously. I've noticed two frequent responses: "tt" or "ttt," and "topping." Are these typos or errors? The "topping" response seems to appear most frequently during heated posts...

"Topping" means putting something in the response window so that the discussion is brought back to the top of the posts. It draws more attention that way.

And, of course, the more often we top your post, it drives someone else's post further down so it's less likely to be seen.
