Garmisch
Are there any 'American' Clubs, restaurants or hotels in Garmisch? I will be arriving from Los Angeles and could use some helping ideas to find my way immediately around Garmisch. I will be in need to find an inexpensive but CLEAN B&B (bed and breakfast). Thanks.

I dont' know but would be surprised if there weren't as Garmisch and area is overrun with American GIs and their visiting families - swandav2000 who lives in Garmisch will be able to give a definitive answer but the question for you is:
You're going to Germany why would you not want German restaurants and hotels - probably is some kind of military hotel for retired military, etc.?
What do you mean by 'American restaurants or hotels' - ones owned by Americans or ones offering American foods and American-style motels?

The only "American" hotel I know about is the Edelweiss Resort for retirees and active duty personal. The people in Garmisch Partenkirchen speak great English, just greet with a hello and goodbye, thank you and please in German. Very few phrases but they appreciate the effort. I have never found anything not clean there.

There are family run guest houses there. If you are using public transportation stay closer to train station.

These are guest houses run much like a B&B
If you are flying into Munich you just take the train, bus service is good and it is easy to get around.

Yes I've stayed in Garmisch and the guesthouse - one of many many in the Garmisch part of the twin town - and there were several other Americans there too - most because of military families in the area and the owner and staff like flpab says spoke good English.

Because Fraundorfer is probably the finest traditional Bavarian inn in town (though a bit folcloristic and touristy). Great for people who want Bavarian atmosphere - for someone who wants everything to be "American" it won't be the right place, though.
They have schools in Bavaria and about everyone involved in tourism in a busy resort town like Garmisch-Partenkirchen speaks at least some English. The language barrier is nothing to worry about.

Check out the HOTEL HILLEPRANDT. We have used the hotel many times in Garmisch. Very nice, clean and in a great neighborhood walking distance to town. They have a web site.
We had a hard time finding people that did not speak English there when I was in the Army in 1970. Now just about everyone speaks English.
The restaurants are great. Just find a good one and enjoy the German food and beer. No need to look for anything American. The Post Hotel in downtown is excellent.

There are dozens of wonderful, clean B&Bs all over town. Your best bet would be to do a search at the town's website

and find one you like. I would make sure it's central to town, i.e. the train station. If you find a few you like, let us know, and we'll be happy to give you our comments on them and help you prioritize them.
There are no American hotels in town, of course, except as flpab notes, the Edelweiss Resort which can't be reached unless you have a military ID card. But, yes, everyone here will speak good English, so language shouldn't be a concern. If you are looking for a hotel that is American in design and decor, that will be tough -- GaP is a resort area, and most folks flock here to enjoy the Bavarian atmosphere. There is an Accor hotel in Partenkirchen that may be "American" enough, but its location isn't the best.

Another bar popular with Americans is Sausalitos, a Mexican restaurant and bar just across the street from the train station (in the direction of Partenkirchen). Finally, there is Billy's Night Club (featuring table dancing) that is right across the street from the military base on Aussere Maximilianstrasse.
But, as PalenQ notes, I don't understand why you want an American atmosphere when you have spent money and time to get to Germany. You will be welcome at the German bars and clubs, and you'll likely make some wonderful new friends!
