I did search here and came up with a couple of threads on ATMs at Gare du Nord BUT on behalf of my sister I have been requested to ask the question again. She will be arriving by Eurostar from London and will need to get taxi money. Where is there an ATM at Gare du Nord. Specific and EXACT information is requested. If you know of a site with a map of Gare du Nord with ATM's marked that would be even better.

Even better, can she get Euros from an ATM machine in London before she leaves? Thank you very much for your help and patience.

ATMs have been removed from some Paris train stations. I don't know about the Gare du Nord.

Dave, do you know the reason? I wonder if it's crime-related?

This seems very inconveient! I am about to go for the first time to Paris, and I just assumed that there would be ATMs in something as major as Gare du Nord.

If some one does have the reason for their removal, please share; I am very curious. Thanks for this heads up too!!!

The last postings I read about it said there was an ATM in the area where the Eurostar arrives, but it wasn't working when they tried to use it.

There should be ATMs on the streets around the station at these banks:
=BNP Paribas - 10 blvd Denain
=Société Générale - 13 blvd Magenta
=Crédit Lyonnais - 77 blvd Magenta

I imagine that London ATMS are not going to dispense foreign currency. But she could just exchange a small amount before her departure, say 100€?

ATM= Bank.

Don't look for a free standing ATM which do exist in places likwe airports etc. Just look for a bank and voila you have an ATM. There are beaucoup banks in Gare du Nord and environs.

If your sister is that concerned about getting €s for the cab fare why doesn't she pick up 50€ in a USA bank BEFORE she goes. Since she is in the center of Paris that will be more than enough for the taxi and wipe away all her concerns.

Thank you for your answers. Yes, I think getting some euros stateside before she leaves and just having them in her wallet is an excellent idea. Wouldn't even have to go to a bank - just get them at the airport while waiting for her flight.

last time I was in Gare du Nord I saw two ATMs. One wasn't working and the other had about 15 people in line. So I just went across the street and about 1/2 a block down to a bank and used that ATM.

Or she can exchange a few £ (since she will have been in London I assume she'll have some left over) to € at either Waterloo or Nord . . . . .

There is an ATM right under the Eurostar level. It is on the side of the exchange bureau situated at the top of the escalators going down to the lockers and rental car agencies. Many ATM's in train stations disappeared due to security issues -- armored cars are supposed to be able to pull up within 10 meters of the location, and obviously they cannot drive through train stations.
There are at least 20 ATM's directly across from Gare du Nord.

Of course the money changers in the airports are real crooks...of course we're only talking about small sums but that's why I'd change at a neighborhood bank at my leisure.

I had some trouble locating an ATM in Gare du Nord in February. Finally, I went to the money exchange booth (it was near the chocolate candy booth) and walked around it. On one side of it, there was an ATM machine. Easy. No problem. From the signs, it was not obvious to me though.

My problem then was changing the large bill to get small change to use the toilet. Unfortunately, I never was able to get small change.

Just to mention that I never use a non-bank ATM like those found in train stations, because if the card is swallowed, you're out of luck, while a bank will give it back to you at once (or on the following day, if it's closed).

I learnt not to do that the hard way when my card was swallowed in a train station and I had no other card and no cash.

I have a similar experience as janisj, a long line, but I decided to wait. Luckly everyone in front seemed to be regulars and the line moved reasonably well. I would have waited there forever if they were all tourists! Next time I don't want to be caught there without taxi money; I would probably do what others said, go outside, provided I am not loaded with luggages or having to walk through a heavy rain.

Well, I gave my niece 20 euros in a wallet for Christmas, and 25 euros for her birthday SO my sister intends to rob the piggy bank to pay for the taxi. Problem solved! lol She will, of course, repay my niece (they are going together).
