You sell everything, retire early and become a "Permanent Traveler" on an open-ended, multi-year trip around the world with your family!!

http://www.soultravelers3.com/soultravelers3.html

After 14 months of slow travel around Europe, Morocco and Turkey, you are all having so much fun, you wonder if you will ever stop.

You think maybe you died and went to Heaven and this is what God had in mind, as you meet such glorious people and see such amazing sights as you roam in total freedom.

You no longer have a sense of time and often do not know what day or time it is.

LOL! What a funny group here. Travelers with humour are great!

Actually, it is really something anybody can do and they have from all walks of life and every age.

Of course there will be some sacrifices and it is not for everybody. It works for us, your mileage may vary.

The very hardest part was making the decision to do it and the prep years were pretty overwhelming at times ( as we got close).

But once we took off, it has been easy and wonderful, beyond our wildest dreams. I do not know anyone who has taken an extended trip like this or RTW who did not think it was the highlight of their life and want more.

It has been enriching beyond belief for our child, our family and all of us as individuals.

Here’s an interesting quote of W.H. Murray, from the Scottish Himalayan Expedition that inspired us:

"Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation) there is one elementary truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one's favour all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamed would have come his way. I have learned a deep respect for one of Goethe's couplets: Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it."

Sassafrass, that's exactly what I was thinking when people suggested cancelling a Paris trip after the 2005 riots.

cherrybomb

Or in my case you are currently applying for a job with 50 days holiday a year.

You start chatting to someone online and compare notes about the menu in your favourite restaurant. They live 2 miles from it, you live 2000miles from it.

You have a huge list on your "favourites" and that is just for your next holiday! Then arriving back from "this "holiday and deleting all those "favourites"
you had saved for "this" holiday! Have a sleep, wash laundry and start planning the next trip.

I may have to ask for another week of vacation in lieu of my bonus this year to keep up.

At any given hour of the day, you look at the clock and calculate what time it is in europe, Asia, Australia, etc...

Most of what you wear is from another country

your display cases are filled to the hilt with treasures from around the world

Your dinner party menus are ALWAYS some international theme.

You have your trips planned to 2013! Not just dreamng of them, but actually have plans for them all!

I know some of these have been said already but for me, I know I'm an addict because:

I didn't get airconditioning for my car because the cost of getting that option was about $1500, and my first and only thought was "that's the same as a trip to Europe! No way!"

I think that this travel thing has become a need, not a want, and I don't know what I'd do without it.

My not-so-obsessed-as-I husband now understands that for me, this is a need, and accepts it.

Sometimes when I look at old trip pictures (particularly the ones of Italy (2004) and Croatia (2007) my heart aches a little.

I am both genuinely happy for, and completely jealous of, anyone I know taking a trip when I am not.

I buy travel guides and plan theoretical trips for places that I have no idea when I'll get to visit.

I now plan everyone else's trips too (friends, family, coworkers). 99% of the time they take my advice and tell me they're glad they did. So nice to be able to help others discover this passon.

...you actually sit through an episode of the "Amazing Race" (with the audio muted) just to see the occasional stunt-free landscapes and city scenes!

When you see a travel show on TV and scream "I know that city -I've been there".
