you don't replace your unsafe deck because it would cost as much as a trip to Italy.
you know without a doubt that you need travel for your soul.
you tell your coworker she could have been in a much better location if she had asked you first, after she tells you where her travel agent has booked her hotel in Rome.
you have two trips booked to Italy, the second only possible because of something you sold, and are already figuring out how soon after the second one you'll be able to go again.

when your travel folder in favorites is three times as long as the page and has sub folders by countries and includes huge subcategories of hotels and restaurants.
And when you tell your family members that in the event of serious illness or death "it was nice knowing you but we are not coming back for the funeral...put grandma on ice."...and you mean it

.......when every time your husband or your children ask you what you'd like for your birthday, you say, "A trip to France"!
....when you describe the way you feel about France as "being in love"
...when your friends call to tell you about a new French restaurant, nursery, boutique, etc. that just opened wherever they just were.

Oh wow, can I relate to all of these!
The most recent realization for me: My sister told me that she's moving from San Diego to North Carolina, and my first response was "Wow! That is so cool! You can get to Europe in only about 5 hours!" She just burst out laughing.

When a non-traveling acquaintance posed this question: "What about if some world catastrophe happens and you are stuck in Italy and can not get home?" and my response was, "I'll get down on my kness and thank God for letting me spend my last days in Italy!"

hypatia, you are so right! The only other category that comes close to my travel shortcuts is genealogy ones.
When one of your serious considerations on whether to have a baby or not is that you will have to curtail your travel for several years! Both due to money and time, as well as ease of travel
When you have requested your vacation days at work before the system will allow you to request them (more than 12 months prior).
When all your family come to you for travel arrangements... and your friends, and your co-workers...
When you have an article on your webpage on how to travel to Europe for $2000 for two weeks, all in - and you tell folks you meet about it (at my art show booth)
When you have an art business selling your travel photos at art show booths

Green Dragon, I am with you--double income no kids = travel without trouble!
My others:
You only take jobs/work in certain industries that provide 6 weeks of vacation a year--yay non-profits!
You shop only through airline websites to get the 5-10 miles per dollar on top of the FF double miles credit card.
You constantly have travel planned with those FF miles earned via shopping.

Sassafrass, I love that one! My cousin won't travel overseas because she is afraid ("there are a lot of crazies over there". I try to point out that there are just as many crazies over here, to no avail. Hmmm...getting stuck extra time in Italy. Where's the problem?
