Fun Things to do in Venice

I will be in Venice with two daughters--4 and 12--for a couple of days. We've been there before, but wonder whether there are new things to try that we haven't discovered. I'm particularly curious about the nearby islands. Suggestions?

You should probably say the things you've done before...how do we know what is new to you?

Boat trips to the nearby islands are a great choice for youngsters. I have skipped the glass blowing adventures but might they find that interesting? (Murano)

Perhaps the lace-making school will have an opportunity to learn about that? (Burano)

The secret tour of the Doge's palace perhaps?

A gondola ride

for starters
