For afternoon tea this website is great http://www.afternoontea.co.uk

My favourite is the Berkeley and the Mad Hatter Tea!

Less expensive than most of the big hotel teas, we like the Richoux tearooms. One is across the street and up a little from Harrod's, one is a few doors up from Fortnum & Mason, and another is on South Audley Street off Oxford at the Marble Arch end.

I love the South Bank. You've got the London Eye, Tate Modern, loads of cute cafes/restaurants on the river...it's just a really nice place to walk around.

If you want to get away from all the tourist sights, you could head to Brixton (only 10-15 mins from central London by tube) which is really trendy now. It has a large Caribbean population so loads of Caribbean restaurants/cafes, a market selling all kinds of stuff, 'Brixton Village' which is like a cool indoor market with stalls selling meat and fish as well as shops and restaurants.

If the weather is good I get afternoon tea at the Orangery - http://www.orangerykensingtonpalace.co.uk/

Otherwise I eat in the beautiful cafe at the V&A museum, but I only want a scone and clotted cream.

Hi byersb449:
Definitely go -on a sunday-evening-to the pub 'The Duke of Kendal' in Connaught Street
(thedukeofkendal.co.uk)
We send everyone there who's going to london and they all are 150% enthusiastic.
Find out yourself. It's hilarious! (I hope the 'old lady' still playing the piano ;-)
We have this from a London friend living on Westbourne Terrace.
One more -interesting- thing is making a boat ride in 'Little Venice (near Paddington Station) Very worth while!
Enjoy London!
Greetings HJ BoZ NL

Some great advice above, but one word that Brit's do not like is "cute". unless they are small, pretty and blondish...
