Mexico, Bahamas, Jamaica, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Ireland, UK, Netherlands, France, Monaco, Germany, Belgium, Czech Republic, Austria, Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, Switzerland, Greece, and leaving in less than 12 hours for my 5th time to Italy/Vatican City. That's 21.

Will add Norway in August and Russia in Sept./Oct.

Interesting thread!!!

I'm from the US, but haven't seen much of my own country, sadly.

Been to Canada, Wales, Scotland, England, France, Belgium, Germany, and the Netherlands. I feel so inadequate, reading how many places the rest of you have been to!

The Travelers' Century Club lists 317 "countries" in their count of separate entities that are separated geographically, politically, or ethnologically. In reviewing membership applications they accept brief "visits" including ports of call, and fuel stops. Based on these factors, my count of "countries" visited is 70 -- spread over a span of 60+ years, beginning with service in the navy during WW II -- which gave me several Pacific Islands. The bulk, however, have occurred since retirement about 12 years ago. What a great way to spend one's retirement years!

Let's see... from Canada

When I was about 5, if I remember correctly: USA, Mexico, Peru, Argentina, Brazil... and spots inbetween I'm sure.

Recently - USA, Britain, France, passed through Switzerland to Italy, The Vatican, flew through Schipol in the Netherlands, and just recently Australia and New Zealand.

So, not a lot. Oh, yeah, I've also been to Quebec. (Canada joke).

I've been searching for the website that inspired me to post this thread and I finally found it today:

http://www.world66.com/myworld66/login

I clicked on the links for "Visited Countried" and "Visited States" to find out what percentage of the world (or US) I've visited. Not surprisingly my percentages were low.

P.S. According to this website, many of the Caribbean islands didn't count as separate countries because they are under the control of another country.

I think it's 23 not including islands that belong to other countries. I was fortunate to have studied in Europe so I got to travel around the continent a bit.
I intend to bring that number much higher of course. So many places I would like to see still. However, I am currently returning to several of my favorite countries to experience them in more depth.

France, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Belgium, Turkey, Austria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Malta, Ireland, USA, Canada, Costa Rica, South Africa, Swaziland. Oh, and one foot in Portugal when I was 4...
So that makes 16 and a half.

Plus another 3 if I'm allowed to count my homeland of Scotland, plus England and Wales...

I've only really started travelling in the past four years, so here we go:

Europe:

Scotland, Wales, Rep of Ireland, France, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Czech Republic, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Russia, Poland, Germany, The Netherlands, The Vatican City, Monaco, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Turkey, Greece (Total 22)

Asia:
Thailand, Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan (Total 4)

Australasia:
Australia, New Zealand (Total 2)

North America:
The USA (Total 1)

Grand Total: 29 in four years. Not bad!

Plus Slovenia in a month's time, so that'll take me to 30. More countries than years old, a good equation to maintain I think....!

Europe - oh my, let me think. England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland. Denmark (do airports count?). Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg. France Germany Austria Italy. Switzerland. Czech Republic. Monaco. I think that is it.

North America - Canada and Mexico.

South America - Peru, Brazil, Argentina.

Iceland

nothing in the Caribbean, nothing in the Pacific. nothing in Africa/Middle East/Australia/NZ. not yet anyway.

this is only 21, for some reason I thought I had more than that... I'll think on it.
