Twenty-two----twenty-three if we've decided to count Vatican City!!! Lucky that there have been repeats of favorites like Italy and Ireland.

Ten, but that doesn't include Puerto Rico, Anguilla, St Martin/St Maarten, Guadeloupe or the Bahamas (it does include Jamaica) I'll add Botswana and South Africa in May

Well I can "only" claim 5 (other than USA, my home) - Spain, Morocco, Mexico, England, Scotland. Hoping to add more in the future!

To Keith who posted earlier on this thread - yes you should be able to count Vatican City as a separate country.

Do Hong Kong and China (PRC) count as one or two?

I think most of us consider Macau and Hong Kong just part of China. Technically, before 1997, Hong Kong was a British colony, so it wasn't really a country; and Macau before 1999 was an "overseas" province of Portugal. So, technically, if you've been to Macau prior to handover, you have been to Portugal, even though they don't even use the same currencies. It was similar to the situation with St-Pierre and Miquelon off the Newfoundland coast - those two islands are part of France.

I think most of us consider England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland one single country - the U.K. Even though Scotland, etc has their own "council", the final decision is still being made in London.

Which is not the case for Taiwan. Even though both Beijing and Taipei SAYS there's only one China, for all practical purposes, they are two seperate countries.

Hey, cfnculvercity (will find out where that is when I finish this) do you need a bag carrier?

Counting just places I have travelled independently - up and down different ways from Nairobi to Cape Town = 7. Plus Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Bangla Desh, Thailand, Malaysia, China (not counting Hong Kong and Macau separately). Plus Australia (current home), NZ, Fiji, the Cooks. And the US - geez, nearly forgot - it was such a long time ago - makes 26.

Adding in countries visited on organised overland trips - another 18 in Africa, plus Jordan, Syria, Iran and Tibet.

48. Just saving and planning now for that time in South America! and I really, really want to visit Canada, and Russia and Cambodia, and revisit ...

I'm feeling so unworldly after reading all of the above...but, hope to visit many of the above places in this lifetime. I have only been to Spain, Italy, Barbados, Jamaica, & several US states. In 3 weeks I leave for France, so soon will be able to add another country. I am 34, so hopefully if the future holds good, I will be able to experience many other great countries! So looking forward to it!

US, Canada, Mexico, Belize, Cuba, Argentina, Brazil.

It gets a little confusing with some of the islands, trying to figure out what is a separate country and what isn't! --
St. Lucia, St. Vincent, Grenada, Aruba (Netherlands) I didn't count the British Virgin Islands or the Cayman Islands.
French Polynesia (maybe Tahiti's not really counted as a separate country from France, but it sure SEEMS like a different country!

UK (England and Scotland), Ireland, Spain, France, Italy, Vatican City, Belgium, Germany, Czech Republic.

So maybe 21. There are so many more places I want to go, but then I keep wanting to back to my favorites again and again!

33 countries for me. So little time, so many more to see... Isn't there a club somewhere for people who have visited 100 plus countries?
