French Riviera

Planning a trip to France this summer, with 4-5 days in the riviera - Having never been there, looking for inputs on the best beach town, as well as where you enjoy staying. Am looking at all the options and it is overhwhelming. It will be for my husband, i and 3 yr old son. We plan to do some site seeing as well as enjoy the sun and beach. As far as cost - i think the most we would want to pay is 300ish, would love to find something around 200, but are willing to do 300 as we are treating ourselves - have 8 wks off work this summer for sabbatical and we don't know when we will make it back. Prior to this we will be in london, Paris and bourdeaux, staying with family.
thanks for any inputs -

The Antibes/ Juan les Pins area would be a good choice. Beaucoup hotels and the beach is pretty good (sandy).

I like Le Meridien hotels and there is one in Juan les Pins that will run you about $200 or so per night.

There are also a couple of things to do in Antibes and the general area and Nice is only 20 minutes away by train.
Try this website for more information:

One caveat though: depending on when you go, it could be VERY crowded. I would avoid the area if possible from mid-july through August.

I've stayed at 2 really nice hotels in Cannes; one on Blvd d'Alsace called Hotel de Paris. The room was large with a large bathroom and a teeny balcony for breakfast. There was also a pool which was nice as it was very hot that July. The other hotel I've stay at (and am returnng to next month) is Hotel Splendid. It's an old building but very lovely on the inside, right across from the Film Festival buildings. The room and bathroom were spacious and there was a little kitchen tucked behind doors. Staff were very helpful, it's right near the Marche Forville and they had a parking deal with a nearby garage. In June my son and I are paying 115 euros for twin accomodation.

Try www.businessriviera.com
for lots of ideas on hotels.
I would however contact the hotels direct for response.
Any central area is good to stay at if you want to cover the riviera, Menton to St Raphael. The train service is excellent and reasonably priced. The whole of the riviera is beautiful.

Hi - We operate a website with a considerable amount of information covering Cannes, Antibes, and other local towns. We provide info on local area daytrips, markets, shopping, restaurants (with a review of which ones we and friends have enjoyed), things to see, do, etc. We also have numerous links to local towns, and also in Provence. If you have Windows media player you can have a listen to Riviera Radio in Monaco and hear what's on. Also, Constance, St Raphael is a nice town, right on the water with plenty of good seafood restaurants our favorite places to stop when we're there! See more info at http://pages.prodigy.com/cgleason/

Wish we were there now, but our website always allows us to make a virtual visit when we get "homesick"! (OFTEN)
