I am definitely traveling in the wrong circles! Have been invited for aperos--occasionally a nice selection of drinks but as often just one or two things offered.
The food has been nuts and potato chips and on one occasion homemade cheese straws (yum). Some not too subtle product placement in the video!!!

I call BS.
First Benedictine would never be served as an apéro. It's a digestif.
1664 with Sprite and grenadine. Seriously? 1664 blôs.
Cheese as an hors d'œuvre? Jamais! Gougère...only in Burgundy.
Cat is right...
Peanuts or Chips with a glass of sparkling or piquette. And if you are very lucky...radishes.
These people are NY BoHo's. Mais oui, le patron de bar est vachement canon!

Sorry, I couldn't watch more than half of this TOO TOO American (New Yorkais) view of the apero.
The aperitif here is usually just snacks, unless it is the increasingly popular aperitif dinatoire - almost like tapas, lots of different small dishes.
Luckily none of the people in this video are likely to invite me.

Oh Dear...
A victim of teh French sense of humour - you could tell it from teh start when they tried to kill him by feeding him 1664....
A glass of cot if close friends, a Kir royale if you're esteemed strangers, and nibbles on a biscuit. Thats what you get in France for Apero. Unless of course, it's apero dinatoire
