Free accomodations!

I came across a web site that offers free accomodation world over. Interesting concept. May not be for everyone, but you could sure save some money. Here is the link: http://www.globalfreeloaders.com/

Has anyone else besides Randy used this service? It sounds almost too good to be true.

Another free opportunity, if you're a couple named Mary and Joseph and you're heading to London in December:

A Australian woman on the Fodors Australia board posted information about www.globalfreeloaders.com and similar organisations. She said she was one of the folks who hosted travellers in her home. She said she enjoyed meeting varied people from diverse countries. At least that's what I remember about her message, which was posted a while back.

I've read a lot about this site on Lonely Planet.

I don't think the concept is for me.

It doesn't seem terribly safe, but I have to admit I don't recall reading of any disastrous occurrences resulting from this or similar organizations.

The few complaints I did read were from would-be hosts who were called at the last minute (say 9:30 PM) to provide a bed that night, or who had guests who just failed to show up and didn't call even when they knew their prospective host had made extensive preparations for their visit.

This is sure not something I would want to participate in whether it was a complete stranger as a guest or I as a guest in a complete strangers home.

Obviously it has been adventageous for many people but it just is not my cup of tea so to speak.
