Frankfurt Airport Hotels

We are turning in our car in Strasbourg and
taking the train to Frankfurt and on to the
airport area - dragging our luggage behind us!
Any suggestions for a hotel easily accessible
to both the train/S bahn and the airport would be happily accepted!

Thanks!

bb

There is a Sheraton on the airport grounds. You leave the lobby and walk across to the departure gates. Could not be any closer. The Steigenberger is off the grounds, but also fairly close.

Based on a suggestion from this board, my husband and i stayed at the Top Post Hotel, about 10 minutes from the airport. We also had a car, but turned it in at the airport, and the hotel sent a van to pick us up. our flight back to the U.S. was early the next morning, and the hotel again brought us to the airport in a van. i think the price of the hotel was in the $100.00 range. the staff was very accomodating and friendly and i would certainly stay there again on the next trip.

I might also suggest the Steigenberger Exprix. Doesn't have all the ameneties of the Steigenberger, but it is close to the airport and they have a free shuttle that runs every 15 minutes 24 hours a day. I am staying at the Esprix right now, and it is very nice express hotel. It has a nice restaurant and a little pub.

I stayed at the Steigenberger Airport Hotel a couple of weeks ago and thought it was very nice. I think my single was about $120/night (but Lufthansa was paying so I didn't look *too* closely). It was much nicer than the budget places I book for myself--great shower, hairdryer, cable TV, generous breakfast buffet, and only a 5-minute shuttle trip from the terminal.

I do NOT recommend the Sheraton on the airport grounds in Frankfurt. Talk about a ripoff! Even though we were there for one night only and on my husband's expense account to boot, it was outrageous. Sure, it is convenient, but...Not just the room price, but the cokes, and everything else in between were horrendously expensive. Forgettaboutit! Go off the grounds.

Bodenheim is an attractive little wine town south of Mainz with a train station and a 35-40 min. ride to the airport. The Gästehaus Rheintal has rooms for $50 - $60 including a nice breakfast buffet and lies across the street from the little station:

http://www.info-mainz.de/gastst/Rheintal/zimmer.htm

There's a website in German for the town of Bodenheim where you can click on some images at least:

www.bodenheim.de

There is also other accommodations info here: click on "Verkehrsverein", then "Beherbungen" for a list of hotels and pensions, some with links.
