Question- Are the guided tours at Versailles in English? Not the audio tours;the ones with people

Note that there are a number of different tours--check to see which ones cover areas of the palace that you want to see.

We took a guided tour at Versailles in April and it was OK...not great but OK. I have written a bit about it in my trip report on http://gardkarlsen.com/Paris_France.htm . The advantage is that you can use another entrence to get into the palace so you don't have to stand in the long line to get in

I've been peeking around Fodors one last time before I leave for Paris tomorrow and found your delightful website. It was fun to peruse knowing I will be seeing all those places so soon. I picked up some good tips from you-just wanted to let you know!

Can someone tell me what the following are:
Salle du jeu de Paume
Musical Riding lesson
Equerries' mornings
Fetes de Nuit?

Also, If we take a guided tour and go to see The Grand Trianon and the fountains,will we have time to see any of the above?

Has any one dined at the La Flottille restaurant at versailles? Is seeing the fireworks a good way to end our Paris trip?

I'm sure that fireworks would be nice. In the interum, I guess you could explore the city of Versailles itself, or maybe the gardens ... not sure when they close. I'm not sure what the buildings are that you mentioned earlier. I can say, however, that I'd recommend as much time as possible. Between the gardens, fountains, water show, rooms itself, and all of the Marie Antoninette stuff, there's just so much to see. I didn't make it through everything I wanted, and we had a full day of walking like crazy.

Five years ago we went to just the fireworks. We left Paris in the evening, and after they were over, we came directly back to Paris. It was a great way to spend an evening, very crowded, all seats were full and this was in September. Purchase your tickets ASAP depending on when you will be there.

If you are already going to be there, I would just have dinner in town and stay to see them.

You'll pass through the town on your way to the palace ... so just go back the way you came! I can't recommend places to eat as we didn't stay to do that.

Literally salle du jeu de paume means something like handball room. It was a kind of tennis-like game played in the 18th century. The salle du jeu de paume at Versailles is important historically for its role in the French Revolution - see here:
