France/Italy....which?

Hello friends...I need help in deciding if I should go to France or Italy for a week. Rather than spread myself too thin and visit both, I decided to just visit one. Which will afford me a bigger variety of sights and thrills? And can I make one city (Paris if France or Florence if Italy)my homebase and visit other cities? Or would it be better to move hotels as I go along? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!

What month? Have you ever been to Europe before? Do you have any "natural" affinity for eithre country (having studied a language, family roots, or just like the food/wine/culture of one as far as you know, better than the other?)

You cannot go wrong with either of several plans:

1. Paris 3-5 days, and the balance within a 200 mile radius, northwest, southwest or due east.

2. Fly into Nice, 3-4 days in the south of France, travel a little under 4 hours to the lake country north of Milan for 3-4 days, fly home from Milan.

3. Fly into Venice or Rome, spend 2-4 days, finish with a little of Tuscany or the Veneto.

June or September: any of these plans
May or October: favor 2 or 3

All the other months are a bit less desirable.

Best wishes,

Rex
Neither. They've become both boring and their sense of entitlement has gotten worse. I would go to Spain, Greece or Switzerlanc.

All other factors being equal, France tends to be slightly cheaper.

You won't go wrong with either choice.

From Paris you can visit Chartres, Versailles, Chantilly and other places.

From Florence, you can go to Lucca, Pisa, Siena, Bologna and Venice.

My own preference is Paris.
