France - Atlantic Coast

Staying in Bordeaux for 4 days in September, home base is at Chateau Le Lout just north-west of the city. looking for ideas about a day trip to the coast??? spots to visit? places to eat? beaches? typical weather?

thanks in advance

Lacanau has a fabulous white sand beach with big waves.

In Arcins, in the Medoc, Lion d'Or is a great place to eat. I would book a day in advance if possible.

Do you want to do the Medoc wine chateaux?

thanks for the tips. i have reservations to visit Latour, Mouton Rothschild, Haut-Brion & D'Yquem during our stay. we may visit Palmer as well, but i think would rather see the coast instead.

any other suggestions? (i realize my chateau choices are a bit like doing Beringer & Mondavi in Napa, but having never been to Bordeaux, i couldn't resist seeing the big houses)

Sounds like you have the wineries covered! You may not have time for the beach!!
