France and Switzerland?

We have 10 full days (arrive July 5th in probably Nice, depart July 15th). We are planning on going to Provence and exploring the small towns, surrounding Nice area (not interested as much in a crowded beach town), and walking around Monaco for maybe half a day. Do you think we would have time to take the train to Switzerland, spend 3 or 4 nights, and fly out of Zurich? Or do you think we need all 10 days in France? We don't want to be too rushed, but we would love the chance to see Switzerland since we're so close. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Since you say you don't want to rush, I would pick one or the other - Switzerland or France and save the other for next time.

So, I would say Yes, you need all 10 days in France. Others with more knowledge will probably see this thread tomorrow and can help you with itinerary ideas.

I think you will find that 10 days will just give you a taste of the area and leave you wanting to go back.

Do you plan to rent a car?

We would definitely rent a car. We are thinking of using St. Remy and perhaps Ville Franche Sur Mer as base locations. I would also like to add that we are young (23) and like to see a lot, but it will be our honeymoon, so we don't want to be completely overwhelmed.

Honeymoon! Then you definitely want to enjoy and savor your time in Europe.

If you don't get any responses to this thread, start another one and title it something like - Help with South of France, Provence trip - and that will draw more responses. Or if you are still thinking about Switzerland, title it - Murren to Provence. Is this possible - and that will draw out the Swiss and Provence experts to help you out. Course, it is only Monday afternoon and this post should send this thread ttt (to the top).

PS People will also want to know what your budget is. Are we talking youth hostels or hotels? $100 per night or $300 per night?

I know there is an age restriction on car rentals but have no idea what it is. Have you checked that out? I thought it was 25 but I could be mistaken.

Have you been to Paris? You didn't mention Paris at all. You could easily do a few days in Paris as well.
