Elizbeth:Could be. The placing of the message is a bit ambiguous like most everything else on this site. I guess we'll find out? I just checked the home page to see if there was anything about the pins since people seem to be getting them again. In padded envelopes this time! That's when I saw the message about the forum.

Now here's an odd twist: you CAN still read from the Patty Rucidlo forum, and even still post to it (I just did as [email protected]) - - you just can't get IN to it - - unless you were already there - - and left it "up" on your computer -- as I just happened to do this morning!

http://www.fodors.com/forums/crossro...messagesframe&

for the thread "San Pietro, Sirenuse or Santa Caterina"

Best wishes,

Rex
Fodor's has simplified their Travel Talk URLs (no more the crosswords, atomic, messageframe, etc, stuff). I wonder if this isn't a more cautious approach for slowly implementing a new application.

Patti Rucidlo's Forum may be found at

http://www.fodors.com/forums/threadselect.cfm?fid=1858

Paulo

Linda,

When the "new format" (of 3/31/01) came along, it became suddenly possible to "capture" the URL of a thread by right clicking on its header (in the left hand column), using "Copy Shortcut" (in IE) or "Copy Link Location" (in Netscape) - - you could then "paste" this URL into the body of a thread.

When the new format went away, it was STILL possible to capture the URL of a thread, but it was so long and bulky, that it required substantial "editing down", and it never caught on again like it did during the "new format" days of early April.

Today, they have implemented a new system, whereby every thread has a much simpler, shorter URL, requiring only the "fid" and "tid" (forum identifier and thread identifier). And you can grab with just a right click, and use it unedited in any other place you want to (another thread, an e-mail, etc).

If you don't get what I am talking about, send me an e-mail - - I will mail you right back with the URL of THIS thread. From your e-mail "client" (software), you should be able to simply click on the URL - - and it will take you directly to this thread.

And where would I get the URL for this thread? by simply right clicking on its header - - in the left hand column.
