For Robin/Hilary, whatever her name is...
Honey, please please please! You are giving all of us Americans a really bad name by your stunning example of childishness and overexcitement!

Go back, read the responses to the seemingly MILLIONS of questions you have plastered all over this board, print off what is useful to you, and just sit tight. If you read and print off pertinent information, you will probably learn a lot more than if you continue to annoy everyone by shoving yourself in all our faces!!!

Just calm down, please. Many many other people have moved away from home and survived to tell the tale. As one person suggested to you in another thread...if you are with the US military, contact them for more answers to some of your most basic questions.

We are all glad to give helpful info, but GEEZ!!!! Give it a rest a little, ok?

Robin - read this and comprehend what people are saying, your constant posts are a bit of a pain. I trust you are not the first American going to spend time in another country, give it a rest already now. Be thankful you are going someplace where you do not have to learn another language (I don't think we could stand the posts about how you could learn a sentance a day or some such silly thing).

yep, that was me, suggesting that Little Miss is a (soon to be) military dependent. It is written all over her posts - she's maybe a recent HS grad and is getting WAY hyper ventilated over a move...

calm down toots, life has a way of taking care of things.

Leave Robin alone! It is freaks like you that wreck and spoil everyone elses enjoyment of using a genuine forum.

Cranks like you don't deserve the use of a computer.

Also, your posts reek of jealously - you obviously lead a very dull life and have never left the country you were born/landed in!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Robin, I wish you all the best. Keep posting - there are many genuine users of this forum who are only too glad to help you.

Robin,

If you ARE a recent High School grad - CONGRATULATIONS!

If you and/or your husband are in the US military, you both have my respect and thanks for doing what you do.

If you are hyperventilating - well, the day I no longer get excited at the prospect of visiting a foreign country will be one of the saddest days in my life.

Of course, if you are a corporate executive with an advanced degree who has been chosen to head up your company's new UK office, then that's great too

Boy ,Robin!
You sure got whammed by some of "those who make this site unpleasant"
They come in all shapes, sizes and flavors.
I have gotten whammed for such little
things as Thanking responders to my posts!
And I have read responses to poor souls who have dared to ask about traveling with children, hotel advice, auto rentals, etc.
I think you should look for books to help you with some of the questions you have.
There is a series called CULTURE SHOCK.
They have books for alot of different countries, and have one on Britian.
The books cover all kinds of things someone moving might need to know.
We have the ones for Italy and Rome and I have found them very helpful.
There must also be some sites on the net.
I think one is called www.about.com.
It has alot one different countries.
Anyway,
GOOD LUCK and have fun, and ignore the grumpy ones.
nancy
I find an amazing consistancy with these people-bashers...99.9 percent of them neither use an identifiable name or email address. Wonder why? They are obviously cowards, afraid to take responsibility for their own remarks. Talk about juvenile!!!
London-bound, I agree with Dave. The minute I stop getting excited about visiting a new place will, indeed, be a very sad day. This forum (in most cases) is a good source of information and, as mentioned, there are indeed other very good websites and books that can answer many of your basic questions. Good luck to you!

Good Lord let's not encourage Robin. Enthusium is one thing, stupidity is another and this girl is bordering on it with her questions. She needs to grow up Let us encourage that, perhaps after their 3 year tour of duty in the UK she will have turned into an intelligent person.

Robin,
Please keep asking your questions if you want to.There are no "stupid questions"

XXX,
You say that Robin needs to grow up and "We should encourage her..."
By "WE", do you include yourself?!!
Everyone has their own way of asking questions, their own way of talking, their own things that they think are important.
Be more tolerant of others.
nancy
