For Mr or Ms Go...? regarding Seneca/Dolomites

I am beginning to plan a trip which include the Dolomites and I've been enjoying your account of your adventure there. I love all your photos, especially from your trip to the top of Seceda and the hike to the Odle group. How difficult/long is this hike.....we are not "hikers" but we do walk several miles a day and I would love to try this hike if at all possible.

Thank you for any info/help you provide.

Thank you

Hi travelfan1, thanks! I'm glad our report is helpful.

The walk from the Seceda station over to the base of the Odle group is actually fairly level and quick--maybe about 15-20 minutes, tops. From the base of the Odle, we walked down to the Col Raiser station, with a stop along the way for lunch at the Troier Hutte. That part is all down hill, with the steepest part near the top. There are a few different trails that you can take down. We used one that had a fair number of steps near the top (from that, I was a little sore the next day). If you have bad knees, that part might be a bit of a strain, but otherwise it isn't too bad. After the Troier Hutte, it is a nice, very gradually sloping trail down to Col Raiser.

Including stops to play for a bit to play on the rocks near the the Odle and then for lunch, it probably took us between 3-4 hours from Seceda to Col Raiser. I also walk a few miles per day and didn't consider that to be a difficult hike. On a nice day, the scenery is terrific--highly recommended!

I hope this is helpful. If you have any other questions, let us know (here is best; I can't get into the email on our trip report site).

To add...

This is the trail from Seceda to the base of the Odle.

And this is looking down from near the base of the Odle. The Troier Hutte is the larger of the buildings toward the lower left, so you can get a sense of the drop in elevation. The Col Raiser lift, then, is toward the middle of the photo, so you can kind of see that most of the walk isn't too steep.
