For marigross

Hi M,

Couldn't find your Paris posts:

We went to restaurants in the 6th:

Vandenange on Boul St. Germain is a Belle Epoque restaurant with menus about 30E

Brasserie Lipp also on BSG, also BE also about 30E

La Mediteranee, 2 Pl Odeon, about 40E very good for seafood.

Vesuvio, across the BSG from the Eglise St. Germaine des Pres is a very good, inexpensive Italian restaurant with great pizza.

Le Petit Zinc, rue Benoit, Art Nouveau, about 40E

Lots of modrate to low priced restaurants on rue Guisard and connecting streets

Hope this helps

)

Three more restaurants in Paris, I recommend reservations for all three:
1. Les Bouquinistes
53 Quay des Grands Augustins
75006
[email protected]
Tel 01 43 25 45 94
Fax 01 43 25 23 07
2. L'Ardoise
28 rue du Mont Thabor
75001
[email protected]
Tel 01 42 96 28 18
3. La Fonatine de Mars
129 rue Saint-Dominique
75007
www.la-fontaine-de-mars.com
Tel 01 47 05 46 44
Fax 01 47 05 11 13

The three of them are very good. First one is a more expensive than the other two. Last two were recommended to us by a young friend who lived in Paris for a couple of years. Enjoy your trip!

ira, was Le Petit Zinc wonderful? we have not been back since they renovated. It was the first Paris restaurant I had dinner in and on my anniversary ~ good memories.
I will recommend Le Perron on rue Perron right off of Blvd St Germaine..Italian but with a French twist..

Hi Mari,

Glad to help. Enjoy your visit.

Hi Scarlett,

Le Petit Zinc was very, very nice. The center of the room is the no smoking area. Service was 1cl and the food was excellent.

Just wanted to mark this entry. I ate at Le Petit Zinc 11/26. It looks quite impressive and the food was fine, just fine though, not our best. Just an opinion for those thinking up restaurants for their trip. Again just being honest, we had a foie gra appetiser at 19euros that did not rival the packaged foie gra I can find in the italian deli in my neighborhood in NYC, that I pay $8 for. Serves me right for even eating foie gra. I forgot how they made it after avoiding it for so many years.....lol.

Our server told us that this is not an original building but a reproduction of Art Nouveau this was our biggest disappointment of the evening. We just walked in here though and did not find the restaurant before hand.

Sarah, by original building, do you mean that he told you the building was new?
I believe the building is quite old, we had our first dinner at Le Petit Zinc in the early 90's. After that, we watched the total gut of the restaurant, not the building and the remodeling..
I lived in NYC and you must have some good deli to
sell packaged fois gras and for it to rival the fresh version in Paris !!

Our waiter told us it was not original art nouveau that it was a reproduction.

I thought I was eating in a landmark restaurant but its structure and was surprise to hear it was a reproduction.

Sorry to point this out with you picking up scarlet. See you had your honeymoon there.

Scarlett Do you know Agata and Valentina on 79th and 1st.

Yes I think it is 3 pigs foie gra and I think it may have been the style of that foie gra in Zinc. Someone pointed out to me at a boulangerie in NYC that Country foie gra's can be quite simple and thick.

I think it was 3 pigs (name in French)foi gra in NYC that was better. But again this might not be better than all foie gra in Paris just what I had a zinc, ginger crusted (could not taste ginger at all), with fig compote (tasted like fig jelly from a jar). 2 large slices of thick foie gra served with two pieces of white toast.

I had amazing fried foi gra in Le Hanger just off beaubourg near pompidou center. Again remembering how foi gra is made I won't eat again and consider this a lesson in Karma LOL.

No, Sarah, that's ok. It was an anniversary and I am just surprised since the building is old, but the restaurant is new in the sense that it was rebuilt.
But we liked it nonetheless.
