Food in Train Stations

We will be arriving in Milan at 9:10 am with 2 kids in tow; plan to take bus to Central Station to catch 12 noon train to Florence. Is it possible to get food in the station to take on the train to eat?

There is a cafeteria. Their hot food
is pretty good and there are fruit
and sandwiches also. If it is closed
there are magazine, sandwich, chip
places that should be open.

Peggi,
Also they usually serve some beverages on the train. A guy will come with a little cart & he will be ringing a bell. You'd probably be wise to "stock up", as the train prices aren't bargains, but if you're in an exceptional hurry or desperately thirsty (as I was), it's good info to know.
Have A Great Time!
Kathy

Peggi:

OR (& I can't believe I'm saying this), there is a McDonald's close by the Stazione Centrale in Milan --- so if you want to stretch your legs & grab a quick bite, you go outside & across the street. I know -- it's not the best way to initiate an Italy trip, but it's convenient & easy for the kids.

When you arrive at the Milan station, turn right as you enter the main lobby. There's is a general type store about hald way down.. In the back they sell sandwiches, chips and drinks that you can take on the train.

The key phrase is "two kids in tow." It will be enough for them to arrive tired in a strange city, and a familiar sight and taste(McDonalds) could be just what the doctor ordered. Go for it!
