Flying to London out of Raleigh-Durham
I'm going to be trying to make a tight connection through Raleigh-Durham. Our luggage (if we do check any) will have been checked in Boston. We'll just have an HOUR to get from our arrival gate to the departure gate. I've never flown in or out of this airport. My sense is that it is smaller than other international gateways.
The good news is that we've booked the tickets on the American Airlines website as "one" ticket. Any advice or cautions from fellow travelers? (Not to worry, I won't stop to buy a magazine or be loaded down with stuff.

our "choice" was a two hour connection at JFK (different terminals too) or an hour at R-D. The difference in price was HUGE.
Note to fellow London travellers. If flights ar really filling up be creative on your flight legs. Fly into Heathrow and then out of gatwick or direct on the way there and with a stop on the other. For multiple tickets the price difference can be significant. (in our case about 3 thousand pounds)

I assume you are in and out of RDU on American ... If so, you're fine. It is a pretty small airport (not tiny - but small enough). If you are switching airlines (unlikely it appears) then it's a pain to make a connection - as the terminals are unconnected building - either a run through the parking lot or a bus...

same airline ( yes, AA). same tickets (their "problem" if we don't make the flight due to delays). That's the only way I'd risk such a tight connection. I realyy only care about our making the flight- our luggage can catch up at a later date!

No problem. The American terminal takes 2-3 minutes to walk end to end. American eagle arrives downstairs under the terminal. You take the escalator upstairs and are probably 2 gates from your departure gate. You will then have 40 minutes to enjoy a cup of coffee.

I took the Gatwick-RDU flight last summer, and had a little more than an hour to connect. As others have said, it is a small airport. But, coming from overseas, you will go through customs in Raleigh-Durham, and you have to pick up all your luggage, including checked bags, to do so.
My tip for you is to not check your bags if you can help it, and get off the plane quickly so you aren't stuck at the end of the customs line. The airport walk was only 5 minutes, but we spent at least 15 in customs, partly because one of our bags was searched. If you let the flight attendant know about your connection, you may be able to move ahead in line.
