Flying into London, Suggest another closeby destination
Hello All,
We are flying into London in March Next year .
We've been to London few times but would like to explore another country/area which is still economical to get ( $80-100 return ticket). We booked the flight into London as we were able to book a flight for very cheap from Toronto.
I'll list the places we've been in Europe and will appreciate any suggestions for places to go from London
London
Paris
Rome
Venice
Florence
Barcelona
Prague
Marrakesh
We don't think but love food!. We'll be travelling with our 4 year old.
We get to London on March 13 at around 6 AM. and Leave back on the 21. Ideally , we would like to be back in London the evening on 19th or Early on the 20th so we can meet up with friends that live there

As a Dubliner living in London, I think it might be a bit of a let-down after London.
I like the suggestion of Lisbon (flight). You can do Amsterdam by flight or train. If you book in advance, you can get deals on the low-cost airlines, but you need to check out NOW if you can meet your budget.
If you want to stay 'local' then Edinburgh, Bath, Oxford, York would be wonderful.

Check flight prices on Ryanair, Flybe, easyjet as well as the major nationals.
Your budget is a little low to get very far but the discount carriers have some amazing deals. Of course, factor in to your costs getting out to one of the London airports.
Lisbon?

Are you flying into LHR or LGW?
I would fly onto your next destination if it's not nearby and return to stay in London before your flight back home. Your budget is on the low side, especially if you have checked luggage but possibly doable although you may have to trek to LTN or STN.
I would stay away from Scandinavia due to costs and weather. Agree with OReilly that the appeal of Ireland is not Dublin. Lisbon, Madrid or Nice would be high in my list. Andalusia if you don't mind renting a car would be another good choice. Airfare to Athens likely to be above your budget.
Driving around England might also be of interest to you.

Try this search tool. You pick a departure airport (for London you can pick a specific airport or all airports), then it shows available destinations and the low cost airlines. Note in London if you arrive at one and then depart from another you will have time and cost to add to your budget. http://www.low-cost-airline-guide.com/
