flying into frankfurt....staying 9 days

Help! I have nine days in Germany (staying in Bad Kissigen....northeast of Frankfurt) and don't how to decide what to see/do. Will be there in late Feb/early March. Was thinking it would be nice to see Swiss Alps. Someone mentioned the Black Forest region. Anyone else have any ideas/hints????

Rothenburg ob der Tauber is a short trip south of Frankfurt. It's one of the few remaining walled cities in Germany, well restored. If you have time, travel the Romantic Road south to the Garmisch area and visit the Ludwig castles. A trip to the Rhine river area is also worth it.

I especially like Bavaria, and like Ellen, recommend Garmisch area, Rothenburg, Heidelberg, Fussen and everything around Salzburg. I didn't care much for the Black Forest area. Interlaken is very beautiful too.

If you're staying in Bad Kissingen the whole time, then the Alps, Garmisch, Füssen, Salzburg, and Interlaken, nice as they are, will make for excessively long daytrips. The good news is that some of Nothern Bavaria's delights are right at your doorstep. Do a little research on Würzburg, Bamberg, Coburg, Nürnberg, Michelstadt, Miltenberg, Weikersheim, as well as the tourist-heavy towns of Rothenburg and Heidelberg, all of which are within 2-3 hours of your base, and you'll find tons of things to see and do without driving yourself crazy.

If you have a auto fulda is very nice also the thuringen area is nice. Day trips on 19 towards Meningen Suhl are worth the time.
