Flygirl's Rome plans are now set - yippee! 2 weeks!
Just got the last bit sealed up.
Tickets to the Papal Audience on November 24th.
Tickets to the Scavi tour on the morning of the 25th (Thanksgiving Day)
Two separate sessions with a tour guide, Giancarlo, as reco'd by Bookie. He's also picking us up at the airport.
We didn't secure the Scala Reale tour as of yet, if we have time we will do so in Rome.
2 weeks 'til London - then off to Rome!

curious - I got my tickets for the Papal Audience through the Bishop's Office for US Visitors to the Vatican. They will hold them for pickup Tuesday 3-7 PM - and we don't arrive until 830 pm.
I've already emailed them to ask them if we can get them the next morning - I assume it should be fine unless they happen to be closed right before the audience for some reason.
has anyone gone through the Bishop's Office? we'll have to hit the ground running Wednesday morning!

I had to pick up some Papal Audience tickets at the Bishop's Office a couple of years ago. We also had to pick them up in the late afternoon/early evening. I'm not sure why they specify that time other than there is a nun that is in charge of handing out these tickets and she might have other things to do in the morning. Maybe someone from your hotel could pick them up for you because Wed. morning is going to be very rushed. The audience starts at 10:30. You should arrive at the Vatican by 9:30 to go through security and get a good seat. The Bishop's office is near the Trevi Fountain so you will need to be there before 9:00 in order to get to the Vatican by 9:30.
