hi guys, i'm planning to go London and Paris this nov, and i wanna know is it cheaper to fly to paris from london or should i take the eurostar?

We are flying from Paris to London return in August. The train would have been convenient but the flights were much cheaper.

I love the train myself and unless it was hundreds of dollars more, I'd take the Eurostar in a heartbeat. Remember, Eurostar takes you from city center to city center - more screening than most trains in Europe but still better than flying. If you fly, you also have to get yourself to one airport and from another, in addition to the price of the airline ticket.

if the prices are similar then certainly take the Eurostar, it is so quick and easy. Door to door practically. Book three months in advance for the good fares. I got both ways for 44E each. Remember the trains leave DEAD ON TIME, they do not wait for anyone!!

Even if the prices aren't similar, city center to city center is usually best by train. Even IF the fare is more, the final costs will generally be less because you don't have the cost/hassle of getting out to LHR and in from CDG.

Plus, the time in transit is less by train (flying means more time to get to the airport, more time advance check in, and more time in from CDG. The actual flight is a bit less, but all the other 'stuff' adds up)

However -If one is landing at LHR and wants to go directly to Paris - then flying is best since it avoids the time/hassle getting to St Pancras

I agreeeon the Eurostar. It's actually quicker than getting to an airport,checking in and all the other c**p you have to go thru.

And right now your Eurostar tickets will get you 2 for 1 entries to several London , Brussels and Paris museums.

Unless you are desperate to save money rather than time and have worked out the door to door costs it's very rare for flying to be a better choice than Eurostar for city centre to city centre between London & Paris.

BUT before you book your air tickets check out the prices of open jaw / multi city tickets arriving in London and leaving from Paris as you will save time on your trip by not having to return to London. And if you do return to London for your flight home don't do it on the day you fly home as if there are any problems it will be your bank balance that gets hit - and one way fares from UK to US are not cheap if bought on the day

We'd go Eurostar every time. It's so much easier and more pleasant than flying. Pack some lunch and wine if you want and enjoy at your seat. If you book as soon as your dates become available, it's reasonably priced but prices increase as the date gets closer. You can book 3 months in advance.

Everyone who has already posted is right on the money. Definitely take EuroStar, esp. since it's early enough that you can get a good price. Remember that it's often cheaper to travel super early in the morning, or mid-afternoon. There is some security at St. Pancras, but it's less of a hastle than at the airport, and the ride is so much more pleasant! Whenever we take EuroStar we always time the trip, and the worst they've ever been was 9 seconds late. SECONDS!
