Steve: Try with
www.mega.it

Yu can also do a search with
www.google.com
typing in "Florence+Italy+map".
You will get some more web pages. Some are promotional for hotels though, but still you will find some useful maps.

I can't help but think that a "tourist map" means different things to different people. The map cited above - - at http://www.mega.it/eng/egui/hogui.htm - - gives a bird's-eye view of all the "big name" attractions - - but you have to click on each one to find what it is - - and it shows no streets. Still it is good for the relative placement of all these things.

and I agree that numerous hotel websites have a PARTIAL map that can still be very good. We are staying at Hotel Giada later this month - - and its online map - - http://www.hotelgiada.com/map.htm - - is also very goof for MOST of the "core" sights - - plus it DOES have all the streets. An online map has to sacrifice something - - either scope, street detail, or not haveing all the sights specifically marked.

Best wishes,

Rex
Steve: Using www.mega.it you must click on the different zones to get the street names of the different zones!

Rex: Maybe you should have a more closer look to that site which gives some useful info about Firenze like what's on, etc.

To "Firenze" - - I didn't mean to sound argumentative - - I had forgotten about the "zone" maps - - I still think that the over "monuments" map is good for an overview. You're right - - the various kinds of maps compliment each other.

By the way, who are you? New? Any reason to be anonymous on this thread?
