Florence in May or November?
We're planning our first trip to Italy for next year and we've chosen Florence and surrounding areas as our destination.
We have 3 date ranges that will work for us- May 19-30, Nov. 13-26, or Nov. 20- Dec. 4.
We're trying to go when there's not a bunch of tourists, but we want to be able to see the gardens, etc. What is the best range? Thanks!

I don't know first hand, but recently returned from Florence. We had a personal driver for two days that drove us to different destinations. I asked him what he thought was the very best time of the year to visit Florence and he said May...good weather, little rain. Nov. would probably be good temps, but maybe more rain. I asked him that question because it was so wonderful and I want to know when to plan my next trip.

Without question, May is the preferable month. I been to Florence in May and several times in November. November, particularly mid to late November, has been cloudy and rainy. If you want to see gardens, there are very few flowers still in bloom in Nov. May is delightful, plenty of sun and relatively warm temps mid 60s-70s). The crowds are larger than in November, but not overwhelming.
