Florence Hotels (Where to stay??)
Where is the best hotel value in Florence? I am traveling in July 1999 with my wife (and mother...yes could be weird). I am looking for something centrally located and in the $200/night range (for 2 double beds). Thanks, Jim
It sounds like the Pendini might be just what you're looking for. We stayed there a couple of years ago, and I think it meets your requirements. A lot of people on this forum have talked about it as well. Run a search for "Pendini" and you can see what others have said.

Just got back from Florence, and had to make the same decision as you. After searching this site and tour books, we chose the Loggiato di Servetti. It is located in a a quiet square(which is rare) around the corner from the Accadamia. It was charming, full of antiques, built in the 1500's and the staff was so friendly and helpful. Ask for a room facing the garden in the back. We paid Lr325,000 for a double with breakfast. Highly recommeneded. You can do a search on this site and it is also on the internet (they have email)

Denise
I would highly recommend the Hermitage (as I have before on this site). It's just next to the Arno and Ponte Vecchio, so the front rooms have fabulous views. They are sound proofed so it's quiet at night. We had a suite of 3 rooms : bedroom, bathroom and "reception" room where we could turn up the heat to dry our clothes. There was a nice lounge room right outside our door. Breakfast was on the top floor in a lovely sunny room and in the summer you can eat on the surrounding balcony. Priced very reasonably too, all considered.
