Florence Hotels: Hotel Lungarno or Hotel Savoy?

Trying to find a nice hotel in Florence and the Hotel Lungarno and the Hotel Savoy were two that were suggested. Any comments on these hotels, or suggestions of other hotels, greatly appreciated. Like luxurious hotels and we're big on quiet (soundproofing not necessarily the neighborhood). Thanks

Good morning, Tom
Would personally pick the hotel LUNGARNO
., mainly because of its location along
the river and being on a fairly quite
street the Borgo S. Jacobi. We have always stayed at its sister hotel, the
Continental just across the Ponte Vecchio, however being on the Lungarno
is very noisy, but it does not bother
use, Go into www.slh.com/pages/f/floluna.html. for
good information and photos of the Lungarno.
If you need any recommendations for
ristorantes, drop me a line.
Richard of La Grange Park, Il...

Tom,

Get a room at the Hotel Lungarno overlooking the Arno river. Our stay was quiet and relaxing. You have a view of the Ponte Vechio also.

Have Fun

Stayed at the Lugarno twice over several years and the view is the Lugarno! Great location, would go back. Getting more expensive, tho. My point of view on views is...how long do you plan to spend in your room with your eyes open?
Loved the hotel, but if budget is a factor, take your savings to the Ponte Vecchio and buy some gold jewelry!

We always try to stay at the Lungarno and have never been disappointed, but you must book way ahead. Another hint--prices for gold jewelry on the Ponte Vecchio are too high. Buy instead at small shops in the smaller towns of Tuscany--quality just as good and prices much better. They will weigh the jewelry for comparison of price and all are 18K.
