Florence

I am planning my first trip to Italy- I am looking for recommendations on a couple of things: (i am thinking of spending 4 days in Florence/3 days in Rome)
1. Hotel in Florence- average price-200-300/night...
2. Do I need to reserve a train ticket from Florence to Rome- I would be traveling on April 23rd.
3. Are there any day trips I should do from Florence
4. I am interested in doing a bike wine tour and possibly a cooking class??? any recommendations?
Thank you so much!! There is so much to see and do, I can't seem to pick anythinggt

Siena is a nice day trip. The bus takes less than an hour.
Also , a short bus ride to Fiesole for a great view of Florence .

Question for you wintergirl: are you asking for a hotel recommendation of 200-300 a night in US Dollars, or Euro?

You shouldn't have to reserve a train ticket; however, you can go to trenitalia and do it online and it is easy. Put in "Firenze" and "Roma Termini" for the arrival and departures.

For a cooking class:

go to www.divinacucina.com

Bike Tours for Florence:

www.ibikeitaly.com

Wine Tours:

www.enjoyflorence.com

Have a great trip!

Sure thing. Glad they helped. Now if you want hotel suggestions, Try going to

www.venere.com

I have stayed at a few 5 stars in Florence, (too many $$$) and I have stayed at some great B&B's.

This is the one I stayed at last June:

DeiMori Bed and Breakfast
and Badia Guest House
Via Dante Alighieri 12 50122 Florence Italy

Tel: +39 055 21 14 38
– Fax: +39 055 23 8 22 16

www.bnb.it/deimori

I highly recommend them. It is right in the heart of Florence and you can walk everywhere.

Re: #2:
If you want to take the Eurostar to Rome, you will not be able to without a reservation. Sometimes, if there are seats available, you can make your reservation right before boarding when you buy your ticket, but you always need to pay for one. It's really just easier to make your reservation and buy your ticket ahead of time. The Eurostar is twice as fast and twice as costly that an Intercity, etc., train. Check out www.trenitalia.com and search your date for available trains and their travel times and prices. Personally, it's worth and extra 25 Euro to me to save 2 hours of train travel, especially on a 7 day itinerary.
