Flamenco in Madrid - help please

I will be in Madrid 10/19 - 10/23 and want to see a great Flamenco show. I am overwhelmed when trying to find a Flamenco Show. I would love some suggestions as to where I should go.

Thanks!

A great Flamenco show? According to Maribel's Sightseeing Guide to Madrid, pg 78, there is Casa Patas, Las Tablas, Las Carboneras, Café de Chinitas and Corral de la Morería. There are also the Flamenco Peñas (for hard-core flamenco fans) and a few theaters offering shows.

Thanks for your response.

Does anyone know how far in advance Casa Patas posts their schedule? I looked on their website and they only have stuff going on this month.

I will add Cardamomo, just off Plaza Santa Ana, to the tablao list. One of the best flamenco venues in town for the past two-three years. Fabulous Belén López used to dance here every second week not long ago.

When it comes to the tablaos, it very much depends on who's performing on your dates, could be some of the absolute greatest or just some very fine artists. Casa Patas would be my best bet (the program is usually set for two-three weeks ahead), but if you come back to me closer to your dates, I can make some recommendations based on who's performing where. During the past year, dancers such as Pastora Galván, Israel Galván, Cancha Jareño and Belén López have performed in Casa Patas. They all fill theaters wherever they go both in Spain and abroad.

The finest flamenco artists in the world (both singers, guitarists and dancers) regularly perform in Madrid theaters. Here you'll find a predominantly local and knowledgeable crowd. Updates on the program here:

If you are really serious about flamenco, I can also highly recommend the excellent Peña (flamenco club) Duende in the Vallecas district in the South of Madrid. Almost every second Friday night from about midnight they stage top singers in an intimate setting. Very welcoming to "outsiders" and the best atmosphere. Updates on their program here: http://www.kanalduende.com/

Kimhe, thank you for all the info! I will check out the links you've posted and check again closer to the trip. I don't want to over plan my trip, but I don't want to miss something either because I haven't done my homework.
