first trip
Im planning a trip with my mate in september, so far we are doing sail croatia on the 22nd of sep then want to head from there to prague then budapest and then munich for last couple days of oktoberfest then from there unsure. We want to do the travel part and hostels on the cheap. Looking for some tips on how gettin between places and what to do in the towns, any advice would be good.

So its Dalmatia, Prague, Budapest and Munich. Looks like pretty sensible train travel though I'd look to see what is on at the Messe the days you are their, sometimes the hotels just fill up, certainly in oktoberfest they get very busy and you might find it cheaper to stay a wee way down the railway line.
To get a quick feel for the trains use www.bahn.de it may be german but it will cover most of the areas you want to visit.

Wrong order.
Croatian areas, then Zagreb-Budapest by train, then Prague, then Munich (which is fairly close to Prague). Going Prague-Budapest-Munich means extra travel and doubling back on a route you've already taken.

Dmax, do you have google?
http://www.messe-muenchen.de/en/meta/home/home.html
this is the largest conference centre in Europe and when busy it kills local hotel accommodation
